When my oldest brother was three, my mother put on a VHS of Romper Room and Friends, a nationally syndicated children’s television program from the 1980’s. Charlie usually watched the show without question, but on this particular day, mid-way through the episode he looked at my mom with wide eyes and exclaimed, "you Miss Molly!" Until then he hadn’t realized that the woman hosting Romper Room was the same woman who was raising him. By the time I was born my siblings controlled the remote so I didn't have a chance to watch Romper Room too often, but I always knew about my mom’s “famous” past and loved to listen to her stories about her time working in entertainment.

At 22, I am nearly the same age as my mom when she was first on television. I thought that hearing some stories from her about this time in her life might be helpful, for me and hopefully for you. This is where Mirrored comes in.

Mirrored is a podcast featuring my mom, Molly Barber and me, Brigid Barber. It is

about reflection, reinventing yourself, motherhood, growing up and all the weird

things that can happen in between. Like a little boy looking up your skirt on live TV

or having to call Howard Stern to set the record straight about a rumor he started

about you.

We hope you enjoy our podcast. Please share your stories and questions with us,

we'd like to get to know you too!

Molly Barber is remembered by many as Miss Molly of Romper Room and Friends, the popular children’s program on WWOR-TV and in national syndication from 1981 until it went off the air in 1994. After Romper Room stopped taping Molly was the ‘A+ for Kids’ Ambassador for WWOR-TV’s ‘A+ For Kids’ campaign. In 1991 Molly hosted KTV, a talk show for children ages 8 to 14.  KTV was seen on CNBC and on local NBC affiliates throughout the United States.  From 1983 through 1994 Molly traveled throughout the tri-state area with 3 different live stage shows for children, Romper Room in Concert, Miss Molly Joins the Circus and Miss Molly’s Reading Road Show. After Brigid was born, Molly often reinvented herself while staying close to home.  She is ready to return to her roots as a performer. Voice overs, Singing and roles as an actress. Mirrored is the springboard to what’s next...
